Barcelona have released a statement to confirm that contrary to prior reports, their game against Las Palmas will be played behind closed doors amid the controversy and violence that has taken place in the city amid the Catalan independence referendum.
Barcelona had asked for the game to be postponed at first, but LaLiga intervened and said that they will lose the three points if they cancelled the game, forcing Barcelona to play the game in an empty stadium rather than risk the safety of the crowd and players.
